Amperion unveils its new focus and strategy
Amperion closes new round of funding and relaunches its business to focus on Hybrid Broadband Networks and Smart Grid Engineering Services.

Amperion Inc., the pioneer of Broadband over Power Line and Hybrid Broadband Network Technology, has emerged from stealth mode with a new focus, patented product line, new funding and a new strategy.

Amperion has two business focuses - PowerWiFi™ Hybrid Network Solutions, and AmperionSG™ Smart Grid Engineering Services.

PowerWiFi™ Hybrid Network Solution
The Amperion PowerWiFi™ Hybrid Network Solution uses new generation hybrid networking technology that blends Broadband over Power Line and WiFi. Amperion has unveiled two new products that implement this technology – Griffin PowerWiFi™ Hybrid BPL-WiFi Repeaters and Eagle WiFi Repeaters. The PowerWiFi products are engineered for serving Broadband and VoIP needs of Emerging Economies. These products can be used to roll out a highly reliable and flexible Broadband and VoIP network at the lowest cost per subscriber. In addition, the hybrid nature of Amperion PowerWiFi makes it the most efficient technology for rolling out an Intelligent Smart Grid Network that is highly reliable, and cost effective.

Amperion also offers the Amperion GroundStation™ with Google Earth™ support to interactively manage the Amperion PowerWiFi network. For electric utilities, the GroundStation™ supports power outage reporting on MV lines with the exact geographical location of the outage.

AmperionSG™ Smart Grid Engineering Services
With AmperionSG™ Smart Grid Engineering Services, Amperion will now offer its vast experience in developing and deploying advanced communications solutions on HV, MV and LV power lines to Utilities, System Integrators and Product companies involved in building Smart Grid Applications and Networks. Amperion can support smart grid projects related to AMI, DA, HER, HAN, and other utility applications. Over the years, Amperion has worked very closely with a number of the largest North American and international electric utilities, acquiring a high level of power line experience and a deep understanding of utility needs. The new services, which leverage the Company's core networking knowledge and utility experience, are targeted at helping Planning Smart Grid Architectures, Evaluating Smart Grid technologies, Developing Products, and Deploying Networks.

Seminal Patents of the BPL technology
Amperion's technology is protected by multiple U.S. and international patents. Amperion holds the BPL industry's foundational patents, based on transmission over power lines at frequencies above 1 MHz – a space in which virtually all BPL vendors and system integrators operate. In addition, Amperion owns patents on coupling technology and hybrid broadband technology using BPL and wireless.
